Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her high-quality performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including an Oscar for the movie Piano. The successful actress began her career as an actor on the stage through a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Passionate about acting since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. After suffering from the Mumps, she was blind on the other side of her ear. However, this did not stop her ambition to become an actor. While in college, she took classes in theatre and then moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart, Hunter's first film. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. The role she was offered came as an actress who played the leading character Swing Shift. Her professional career spans over thirty years and she's appeared in a variety of TV films, films and series. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
