Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is renowned for her performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The movie Piano won her several awards which included an Oscar. The path to acting began in Broadway by performing in a range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway projects. Passionate about acting since the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. Mumps led her to lose her hearing in one of her ears, but this was not enough to stop the actress from following her dreams. She was a drama major at the college after which she moved from Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her dream. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut due to an accidental meeting with Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After moving to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land movie roles. The role of a supporting actress was secured for Swing Shift. Holly Hunter has been in numerous television series, films and movies over the course of her 30-year career. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity and has been awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
